Building Information Modelling (BIM) will change the way in which buildings are designed, constructed and maintained. So in conjunction with NBS (part of RIBA Enterprises Ltd) Conren Limited have now launched a range of products on the NBS National BIM Library. These product ranges include epoxy resin floor coatings, screeds, waterproofing membranes; high friction anti-skid, external decorative resin bound finishes and wet pour EPDM play surfacing.
Building Information Modelling combines multiple data streams which allow architects and designers to generate a comprehensive virtual 3D model of a building. By applying manufacturers’ BIM objects at specification stage, it allows greater integration of the product whilst detailing the impact of individual elements.
The UK government announced its requirement to produce collaborative 3D BIM on all of its centrally procured funded projects from April 2016. With its award winning BIM library, Conren selected NBS to produce and host their product ranges as BIM objects. Including manufacturers’ objects allows not only more accurate specification, costings and quantities, but will also improve future facilities management.
The objects are available in formats Revit and in the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) and are free to access. NBS National BIM Library objects ensure consistency and work directly with various BIM design tools which can be seamlessly integrated into NBS Create software, at present no other BIM object library offers this service.
