Conren Playon has been used to transform an outdoor area into a vibrant and safe environment for young children to play without the risk of injuries from falls and tumbles.
The £1.1 million project with Southend-on-Sea Borough Council at Kingsdown School included the provision of additional classroom accommodation and a purpose built new external play area.
Contractor, ISG Jackson Special Projects, engaged Conren to supply and install Playon impact absorbing wet pour rubber crumb surfacing to create a bright and safe play area.
The imaginative design included a snake, numbered and coloured stepping stones and a dolphin, all produced on site using Playon, which offers a non-slip play surface both in wet and dry conditions.
Tested in accordance with BS 7188 and CEN Standard preEN1177, Playon resilient rubber crumb surfacing is hand laid at varying thickness to achieve the required critical fall height of play equipment.
Alternatively, the system can also be laid at 20mm for applications such as external circulation areas, paths and walkways to reduce the risk of slips and trips.
