A First For Flooring Company

The First Minister for Wales, Rt Hon Rhodri Morgan, took time out of his busy schedule to visit resin flooring specialists Conren Limited.

At Conren's North Wales plant in Wrexham, Mr Morgan met with staff before taking a guided tour of the manufacturing and laboratory area, where the company's range of industrial coatings and screeds are made.

The First Minister was also shown examples of Conren's innovative external safety products; Truegrip BT high friction anti-skid for roads and Playon impact absorbing surfacing for children's play areas.

With nearly 35% of its products sold overseas, including waterproofing compounds made at the company's Chesterfield site, Conren has a healthy export market as well as a long established track record of major projects in the UK. Mr Morgan commented, 'Good exporters are usually very successful companies because they have got the extra mile to go to secure business against global competition'.

The visit concluded with a presentation of an engraved commemorative hipflask presented to the First Minister by Chris McEwen, Managing Director.

Conren has been manufacturing since 1971 operating throughout the UK, and overseas via a network of agents/distributors in over 30 countries. The company is a specialist subsidiary of VINCI PLC, which forms part of VINCI, world leader in concessions, construction and associated services.
